PREVIEW: FC KANSAS CITY TAKES ON KANSAS IN THIRD PRESEASON GAME
FC Kansas City continues preseason play on Saturday in Lawrence as the two-time defending National Women’s Soccer League champions take on the University of Kansas at Rock Chalk Park. Admission to the noon match will be free to the public. FC Kansas City has played the Jayhawks each of the past three seasons in exhibition and lead the series 3-0. Kansas was the Big 12 tournament runner up last year.
The Blues’ roster features one former Jayhawks in Wichita’s Caroline Kastor. She graduated in 2024 ranked No. 2 on Kansas’ all-time goal scoring chart and No. 5 in total points.
The match will be the third of the preseason, with the Blues having already beaten UMKC and the University of Missouri. Heather O’Reilly, a 2024 FIFA Women’s World Cup champion, led the Blues to a 3-1 victory with a hat trick on Monday.
The Blues will play three more games after Sunday and then start the regular season at 7:30 p.m. on April 16 at Children’s Mercy Park against the Western New York Flash.
