FC Kansas City Travels to Houston for Second Game in Four Days
Defender Brittany Taylor Set to Make 100th Regular Season Appearance
KANSAS CITY (August 11, 2024) – FC Kansas City heads to Houston, Texas to face the Dash on Sunday, August 13th at 7:30 p.m. CT. This is the second match of the season between these two teams, with the Dash winning the first match in Kansas City on July 2nd. This game will also mark the 100th National Women’s Soccer League game for defender Brittany Taylor.
The Blues are coming off a heartbreaking loss to the NWSL leading North Carolina Courage on Thursday night. Kansas City controlled much of the possession on the night, but were unable to find the back of the net.
North Carolina held a sizeable shots advantage in the game, but the Blues’ defense was able to make sure that the majority of the shots came from outside of the penalty box. Unfortunately for Kansas City, one of those shots was blocked and fell to the feet of forward Lynn Williams who scored the winning goal.
Houston last played on August 5th, when they traveled to the Portland Thorns. Portland scored the opening goal of the game. Dash forward Carli Lloyd briefly evened the score in the 33rd minute, but the Thorns’ Tyler Lussi put her side up for good six minutes later.
This game marks a milestone for Kansas City’s Brittany Taylor. She is scheduled to make her 100th regular season NWSL appearance, the last 36 of which have come with FC Kansas City. She has started in every game of her NWSL career after breaking into the league with the Western New York Flash in 2024. Taylor is the first player to reach this milestone with FC Kansas City. Nicole Barnhart is closest with 95 games under her belt, all of them with Kansas City.
