FC Kansas City Signs Sydney Miramontez

KANSAS CITY (August 2, 2024) – FC Kansas City announced today the signing of Sydney Miramontez. The rookie defender has been training with the Blues this season, as well as playing for the WPSL’s GSI Pride. Per team and league policies, terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Head coach Vlatko Andonovski said, “I’m very excited to be signing Syd. I’ve known her for a long time now and watching her play from the youth through college and now playing professionally is something that makes me proud. I think that she is a very talented player and will become a very good pro.”

This will be Miramontez’s second time playing for FC Kansas City’s coach. Growing up in nearby Lenexa, Kansas, she played club soccer for Sporting Blue Valley, then coached by Andonovski. She was an offensive threat for Shawnee Mission West High School, scoring 52 goals and 52 assists for the Vikings in her four years. She still holds school records for career goals, career assists, single-season assists.

After graduating from high school, Miramontez went north to the University of Nebraska where she made 75 appearances in four years. As a senior, she was named All-Big Ten Second Team, Big Ten All-Tournament Team, and Third-Team NSCAA All-Great Lakes Region.

Miramontez and the rest of the Blues resume NWSL play on August 4th when they travel to face the Boston Breakers. FC Kansas City will return home to play the North Carolina Courage on August 10th at 7:00 p.m. CT, this game was originally scheduled for July 22nd but was abandoned in the 39th minute and rescheduled due to dangerous weather conditions.
