KANSAS CITY, Mo. (August 7, 2024) – FC Kansas City (5-6-4, 19 points) returns home after a two-game road trip to host the Western New York Flash (5-7-3, 18 points) in the first of four consecutive home games at 7:00 p.m. CT on Saturday at Swope Soccer Village. The match will be streamed live on YouTube. In-game updates can also be followed via Twitter at @BluesGameday.

Kansas City is coming from a hard fought 2-2 draw against the Chicago Red Stars at Benedictine University last Saturday. Forward Sarah Hagen scored her third goal of the season in the 87th minute to help the Blues earn a valuable road point. On the other hand, the Flash is coming from a massive 2-1 away victory against Sky Blue FC thanks to Elizabeth Eddy’s game-winner in the 89th minute at Yurcak Field.

Both teams will meet for the third and final time this season. Earlier this year, the Blues and the Flash played back-to-back games in Weeks 5 and 6 respectively. Coach Vlatko Andonovski’s team snapped a 1-0 victory from Sahlen’s Stadium before settling for a scoreless draw at Swope Soccer Village.

All-time, Western New York and Kansas City have squared off a total of seven times. Each team has won two contests and tied three times. Currently, FCKC stands sixth with 19 points followed by the Flash with 18 points. Both teams will meet with the chase for the NWSL Playoffs in full effect as the Houston Dash, who will be hosting Sky Blue FC tonight, is fourth with 20 points.

World Cup Champions Lauren Holiday and Heather O’Reilly each recorded an assist last weekend. However, the Blues will be without team leader Shea Groom (four goals and two assists) as she is still recovering from a right foot second metatarsal fracture. Coach Aaran Lines will be without USWNT forward Sydney Leroux due to a knee surgery.

Western NY is led by Eddy, Samantha Mewis and Lynn Williams, each with three tallies. In addition, Colombia international Lady Andrade scored her first NWSL goal in her debut last Saturday, while World Cup quarterfinalist with Australia Michelle Heyman earned Team of the Week honors following her debut where she scored in the 50th minute on July 19.

Next up, FC Kansas City will host the Portland Thorns FC on Wednesday, August 12 at Swope Soccer Village at 7:00 p.m. CT.
