Second League Honor for NWSL’s Scoring and Assists Leader

Chicago (August 6, 2024) – FC Kansas City midfielder Lauren Holiday was voted the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) Player of the Week by the media for Week 17 of the 2024 NWSL season.

Holiday, 25, scored two goals for FC Kansas City in a 3-2 victory over Portland Thorns FC in a nationally-televised game on Sunday Aug. 4 at JELD-WEN Field in Portland, Ore. as the Blues became the first team to clinch a spot in the NWSL Playoffs.

The Indianapolis native netted her league-leading 11th and 12th goals of the season in the 23rd and 55th minutes, respectively, to help power FCKC to a new NWSL record of 10 games unbeaten – breaking the old mark of nine held by the Western New York Flash.

The U.S. Women’s National Team player, who also leads the league in assists with nine, has scored or registered an assist in the last 10 games in which she has played despite missing four games during June and July for international duty and her wedding.

This is the first Player of the Week honor for the UCLA graduate, who was previously awarded the NWSL Player of the Month Award for June.

FC Kansas City will return to action Saturday, August 10 at 5 p.m. CT against the Boston Breakers at Dilboy Stadium in Somerville, Mass.

The NWSL Player of the Week is selected each week of the regular season by a selection of journalists that cover the league on a consistent basis.
