KANSAS CITY (September 11, 2024) – Veteran goalkeeper Nicole Barnhart and the FC Kansas City backline defended their home field for the final time this season with a 0-0 draw on Sunday night.

The Blues fielded just three shots in the match and went on to earn their league-leading sixth clean sheet to tie with Chicago’s Alyssa Naeher.

After scoring three goals on Wednesday to defeat the Red Stars, FC Kansas City was limited to just eight shots in this meeting. Defender Brittany Taylor had one of the closest shots with a turning kick into the bottom left corner of the goal. Naeher responded quickly with the first of her four saves.

Portland and regular season champion Washington, have secured playoff berths and Western New York can with a win or draw in its next two games. The Blues will miss the playoffs for the first time in the club’s four-year history.

The Blues will end the season against the Orlando Pride on Saturday at Camping World Stadium. It is FC Kansas City’s first trip to Orlando to take on the expansion Pride. The Blues won the first meeting 2-0 at Swope Soccer Village in May.
